First thing’s first. You need to keep some provisions in your vehicle at all times when you are traveling in the winter. Warm clothing and blankets are a must, just in case you get stuck on the side of the road or have an accident.

To make sure you have the best visibility possible, you need ice scrapers as well as de-icers.

Food and drink are must haves, preferably bottled water and nonperishable food items. Hot drinks in thermoses or flasks are good too.

You need a cell phone and it should be fully charged. Maps are a must and it would not hurt to have some article of clothing, such as a vest, with reflective visibility stripes.

There are a number of reasons why winter driving can be so dangerous. For one thing, the holiday season is right in the thick of things.
