What Affects Your Insurance Rate? 3

without comments

driver-3As we continue to talk about what can affect your insurance rate, we need to talk about the amount of coverage you have itself. Specifically, you have to realize that where car insurance is concerned, you definitely get what you pay for, in the long run or in the short run. If you have a policy which covers every bit of damage you can imagine, then obviously you will have to may more for that than you would if you only had the minimum amount of insurance legal in your state.

The very insurance company that you try to get a policy from can affect the rates you pay as well. One insurance company will offer rates much different from another company. For that matter, while one company may not be willing to insure you, that does not mean that a different company will not be more than happy to give you a policy. It all depends on where you go.

What Affects Your Insurance Rate? 2

without comments

insurance-2The amount that you drive is another key factor in determining how high or low your rates are likely to be. For instance, if you only drive your car to do daily errands and things of that nature, then it is assume that you are not at as high a risk to get involved in any kind of accident. However, a driver who commutes each day, takes a lot of trips, and so on, is considered at a high risk for accidents.

Naturally, your driving record plays an enormous part as well. If you do not have a good driving record then, quite simply, you are going to pay higher rates. It does not matter if you have parking tickets or speeding tickets.

Even the amount of coverage you have can affect the rates you pay. Complete and full coverage will naturally cost more than the bare minimum.

What Affects Your Insurance Rate? 1

with one comment

insurance-1There are a lot of things which can affect the cost of your auto insurance. Being aware of what those factors are can ultimately help you save — potentially a lot of money, in fact.

For example, did you know that where you live is a huge factor in determining how much your car insurance rate will be? Not a lot of us do. However, generally speaking, if you live in a large city, then you will have to pay higher insurance rates simply because there is more traffic and, as a result, more accidents.

The car that you drive is a vital factor as well. Statistics and studies have proven that certain kinds of automobiles and even certain colors will typically be involved in more accidents than others. Using those statistics, then, car insurance companies will charge higher rates for those cars.

without comments

Liability InsuranceIf you are like many car owners – you probably have no idea what Liability Insurance really and truly is.  If you have a car, chances are you have car insurance, which means that you have Liability Insurance and this is something that you definitely should understand.

Now of course, the details of Liability Insurance vary from each state, but the basic meaning of it is going to be that the car insurance company will pay for the injuries and the property damage caused by an accident if the auto insurance adjuster determines that you were at fault for the accident.

Most of the time, the state minimum is going to be $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident and around $50,000 for property damage.  That should be your limit however; it really and truly does depend on what state you live in.

Discounts are something that a lot of people do not think are available to them – to be quite frank, many discounts out there you are probably able to take advantage of, you just don’t know it!  For example, low mileage discounts are an incredible way to save all sorts of money!  If you are a person that does not drive a whole lot and just usually go back and forth to work, this will be right up your alley!

Heck, even if you car pool, you might be able to get a discount for that on your car insurance.  Car insurance companies are looking for any way possible for you to keep them as your insurance company – the insurance company is not a dying business but it is hard to find people and they are looking to keep everyone they come in contact with.

So keep that in mind if you are the type of person that does not drive around a whole lot – you should be able take advantage of this particular discount!

Benefits of Online Car Insurance: 2

without comments

couple lying on floor using laptopSo, online policies are good for the environment — “paperless policies” are the wave of the future. This does save a lot of trees, not to mention a lot of time. At the very least, you no longer have to worry about shredding the insurance documents you do not need anymore.

This kind of car insurance online is more available as well. You do not have to really worry about forgetting or losing any of your documentation, because you can easily print it off again.

You do not have to log hours of wasted time — even minutes are valuable right now — spent trying to talk to a representative from the customer service department. You do not have to worry about not receiving your statement in time, or worrying that your payment will not arrive in time. A lot of online insurance companies even reward you, due to the fact that you are saving a lot of trees, plus a lot of your own money.

Benefits of Online Car Insurance: 1

without comments

shopping onlineThese days, it is hard enough to worry about finding a car insurance company which offers rates that can protect you while still being affordable for your budget, without having to worry about whether you go with an online policy or stay live, so to speak. However, we are unequivocally living in the age of the internet and online policies are the next evolution. In fact, they are increasingly more popular, so it might well be worth it — literally — to take a look at their benefits.

How about a lack of overwhelming paper work, for one thing? You do not get half a thick novel mailed to your house, to be wrestled out of the mailbox. Then, of course, you have to make sure your bill gets to you every month, and pay it — send a check, do it over the phone, sometimes doing it over the internet.

So, without a doubt, one benefit of choosing online car insurance is the fact that it is more convenient — and more environmentally friendly.

Combatting Bad Drivers

without comments

violation-2Now, do not stop worrying just yet.  While it is unquestionably unfair that good drivers have to pay for the mistakes made by people who have bad driving records and do not obey the laws, there are ways you can combat that.

For one thing, try to find an insurance company which actually rewards you for having a clean driving record.  More and more, auto insurance companies are offering such rewards to those of us who practice safe driving.  It is partly a way to entice everyone to drive better and partly a way to simply reward those of us who obey traffic laws and keep ourselves and others safe.

You also have to keep doing what you are doing. Do not simply assume that, just because your rates are going to go up anyway, you should stop caring about being safe. Whether it feels like it or not, you are being rewarded for being a good driver — if only by having the satisfaction of not putting any other drivers at risk.
