First thing’s first. You need to keep some provisions in your vehicle at all times when you are traveling in the winter. Warm clothing and blankets are a must, just in case you get stuck on the side of the road or have an accident.

To make sure you have the best visibility possible, you need ice scrapers as well as de-icers.

Food and drink are must haves, preferably bottled water and nonperishable food items. Hot drinks in thermoses or flasks are good too.

You need a cell phone and it should be fully charged. Maps are a must and it would not hurt to have some article of clothing, such as a vest, with reflective visibility stripes.

There are a number of reasons why winter driving can be so dangerous. For one thing, the holiday season is right in the thick of things. And since flying, especially during this time of year, is both insanely expensive and wildly unpredictable, more and more people are driving.

They risk the snow, the ice, the sleet and hail, the rain, and the early falling darkness — and sometimes, they are in such a hurry to get where they are going, that they may not necessarily be as safe as they should.

Car insurance will only take you so far when such factors converge. You need to be fully prepared to be truly safe when you are driving in the winter.

Now that we have touched base on some of the cars that are extremely expensive to ensure due to the fact that if they get stolen … it is a lot of money to replace them.  Next, we are going to talk about some of the cars that are most expensive because of their injury claims.

First up is the Suzuki Esteem four-door model.  This particular model, while safe most of the time is definitely number one up there for injury claims.  Next up is the Mitsubishi Mirage four-door as well as the two-door version.  While these are all good cars, the injury claims are definitely what puts them above the rest in car insurance rates.

Car insurance is not something that you can skimp on either, as it is certainly something that you want to have and need to have in most states.
